Midway through our tour, Piazza Ventidio Basso offered an unexpected surprise. Rising in the middle of the square was a monumental replica of Mulino Bianco’s iconic windmill alarm clock.
The tourists stopped, amazed, as the familiar symbol of Italian pop culture momentarily reshaped the historic heart of Ascoli.
The surprise opened a conversation about the brand’s importance to the city. Mulino Bianco has been closely tied to Ascoli since the 1980s, when its production sites became a major source of employment.
